Our visit to Turin's National Automobile Museum (MAUTO) and its exhibition dedicated to the legendary driver Ayrton Senna was a moving, immersive experience for Formula 1 and motorsport enthusiasts. The celebratory exhibition offered a journey through the career and life of one of the most iconic and beloved drivers in motorsport history.
Inside the exhibition, visitors could admire some of the most representative cars Senna raced and won with in Formula 1. Standing out among them were the iconic McLaren-Hondas with which the Brazilian driver won three world titles, alongside a selection of race suits, helmets and memorabilia telling the story of his rise to the top of motorsport.
Each section of the exhibition was accompanied by multimedia material, with videos documenting the highlights of Senna's career, from his first victories to the tragic accident at Imola in 1994. Interviews, footage of his most spectacular races and comments from journalists and fellow drivers painted a complete picture of his extraordinary skill on track, his pursuit of perfection and his charismatic, humanitarian personality away from the circuit.
Another highlight of the visit was the chance to enjoy interactive experiences, such as driving simulators that let visitors feel for themselves what it is like to drive a Formula 1 single-seater, measuring themselves, in spirit, against Senna's extraordinary driving ability.
The exhibition was not limited to sport, but also explored Ayrton Senna the man, highlighting his commitment to social causes through his foundation, the Instituto Ayrton Senna, which continues to support educational projects for disadvantaged children in Brazil.
The MAUTO visit dedicated to Senna made for a moving and enriching experience, paying tribute to one of the greatest champions of all time, whose legacy continues to inspire drivers and fans around the world.
In the afternoon, after our visit to Turin's National Automobile Museum (MAUTO), we had the opportunity to take part in Driving Vintage, an event organised by an association that rents out classic cars. Thanks to this initiative, we immersed ourselves in the thrill of driving some of the most iconic cars in Italian motoring history, touring the streets of Turin behind the wheel of genuine masterpieces on four wheels.
From the very first moment the atmosphere was exhilarating: we found ourselves in front of an exceptional selection of classic cars, all perfectly preserved. Among the models available were the legendary FIAT 500, a symbol of Italy's economic boom, the feisty Alfetta, the elegant Fiat 124 and the stately Fiat 1300, an emblem of solidity. Adding even more charm was the iconic Alfa Spider, which instantly evokes the Italian roads of the 1960s with its elegant, sporty design.
Every participant had the chance to take the wheel and experience the appeal of these timeless cars, whose vintage mechanics deliver a driving feel very different from modern vehicles. Driving through Turin's historic, picturesque streets made the experience all the more evocative, blending motoring heritage with the city's rich architectural legacy.
The Driving Vintage team accompanied us along the entire route, sharing anecdotes and technical details about each car and enriching the experience even further. It was a true journey into the past, showing us how much these cars have influenced not only the motoring world but also Italian culture and lifestyle.
All in all, taking part in Driving Vintage made our day at MAUTO truly unforgettable. Driving these classic cars, so full of charm and history, was a journey through time that we will always carry with us.
