2024 Italian Grand Prix at Monza – Petronas

The Monza Grand Prix, or Italian Grand Prix, is one of the most historic and iconic events in Formula 1. It takes place at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, set in Monza Park north of Milan, and is famous as the Temple of Speed, hosting the highest speeds of the season.

Monza is a unique circuit, defined by long straights that allow cars to exceed 350 km/h, making it one of the fastest tracks in the world. At 5.793 km with 11 corners, it presents technical challenges such as Curva Grande, the Variante Ascari and the Parabolica (now Curva Alboreto), which force teams to strike a compromise between top speed and grip. This makes race strategy crucial.

Monza has hosted the Italian Grand Prix since Formula 1's very first season in 1950, becoming an unmissable fixture for Ferrari fans, renowned for their passion. A Ferrari win at Monza is celebrated like a national holiday, often culminating in the traditional track invasion.

The circuit is synonymous with pure speed. In 2004 Juan Pablo Montoya set the record for the fastest average lap speed here, reaching 262 km/h. High speeds and technical corners make for spectacular races, with overtaking and intense battles right to the final lap.

The Monza GP is famous for close and often unpredictable races. Tyre management and the use of DRS on the long straights are decisive factors for victory. Over the years Monza has delivered memorable moments, from unexpected wins to epic title battles.

Monza has confirmed its place on the Formula 1 calendar until 2025, remaining an essential fixture thanks to its unique blend of tradition, speed and passion.

In short, the Monza Grand Prix embodies the essence of Formula 1: speed, history and passion, at one of the most legendary circuits in the world.
