The Temple of Speed lived up to its reputation. The Monza round of the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup was a game of chess played at over 290 km/h, with a grid of nearly 50 GT3 cars.
The first moment of tension came, as expected, under braking for the Prima Variante right after the start. From there it was a race run at qualifying pace, decided by tyre degradation over long stints, by precise pit stops and by the pit walls' ability to read the traffic.
The surprise winner was Tresor Attempto Racing with the Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II #66 of Ariel Levi, Sebastian Øgaard and Rocco Mazzola, in a race that ended under the Safety Car after a late contact at the Prima Variante.
Monza through the lens
Monza is a circuit you tell through speed: long pans down the straight, GT3 cars leaning on the kerbs of the chicane, livery colours against the trees of the Park. The gallery collects a selection of shots from the weekend.
