Behind the Scenes at the WEC: My 6 Hours of Imola at the Heart of Team WRT
The roar of engines echoing through the hills of Romagna, the smell of burnt rubber and that electric tension you could cut with a knife: the 6 Hours of Imola is not just a race, it is a ritual. But experiencing it as a spectator is one thing; living it from the inside, at the beating heart of Team WRT, is an experience that changes your perspective on what “endurance” really means.
Taking part in the FIA WEC round at Imola was an incredible privilege. Being the guest of a world-class operation like Team WRT allowed me to observe up close the mechanical perfection and split-second coordination hidden behind every single pit stop.
I had the honour of sharing the garage with two heavyweights of world motorsport: Raffaele Marciello and Augusto Farfus. Watching “Lello” and Augusto in action — their data analysis, their stress management and their symbiosis with the car — was a masterclass in professionalism and talent.
From content creation to the track: my connection with Augusto Farfus
If this experience was possible, I owe it to a journey that began far from the world championship circuits, but always with the goal of maximum performance. This opportunity was in fact the natural evolution of our collaboration for the Motorsport Performance Academy, the elite driver-training team led by Augusto himself.
Creating content for the Academy allowed me to get in tune with Augusto’s philosophy: attention to detail, dedication and an infectious passion for teaching and for motorsport.
Special thanks therefore go to Augusto Farfus for turning that professional synergy into a real opportunity on the ground. Thanks to him, I had the chance not only to enjoy the team’s hospitality, but above all to work actively in the garage. Being there, in the thick of the action, supporting the team’s work and breathing race strategy in real time, was a priceless gift that gave even more value to the work we have done together so far.
“Being able to observe the work of a factory team from such a privileged position made me realise that motorsport is not just about speed, but about people, trust and absolute dedication.”
What I take home
Endurance is a battle against time, but also against your own limits. Coming back from Imola with this wealth of memories and skills is an incredible boost. Thanks again to Team WRT for the welcome, to Augusto for his trust and to the whole Motorsport Performance Academy team: the road to excellence continues.
See you at the next chequered flag!
